  Introduction

The Department of Gynecology at Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital comprises five subspecialties: General Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Disorders, Cervical Diseases, and Gynecological Endocrinology and Fertility Preservation. The department has 78 beds and a team of 55 medical and nursing staff, including 25 physicians and 30 nurses.

The department handles over 120,000 outpatient visits annually and performs more than 4,000 inpatient surgeries, with approximately 80% classified as Level III or IV procedures, ranking first in the hospital and among the top in the city. It is one of the earliest departments in Shenzhen to adopt gynecological endoscopic surgery and serves as a Gynecological Endoscopy Training Base authorized by the Ministry of Health. The department’s expertise in minimally invasive endoscopic surgery has earned multiple awards at national, provincial, and municipal surgical competitions.

The department performs a wide range of endoscopic and open gynecological surgeries. These include laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures for benign diseases, laparoscopic surgeries for early ovarian cancer, nerve-sparing radical hysterectomy, endometrial cancer surgeries, vulvar cancer surgeries, deep endometriosis lesion excision, and laparoscopic peritoneal vaginoplasty. Open surgeries for both benign and malignant conditions, as well as various pelvic floor disorder surgeries, are also routinely performed. In recent years, advanced technologies such as 3D laparoscopy, fluorescence laparoscopy, robot-assisted laparoscopy, and hysteroscopic cold knife systems have been widely applied in clinical practice, with over 30 new technologies and techniques introduced.

As the Shenzhen Critical Maternal Rescue Center, the department provides consultation, referral, and emergency care services for pregnant women across multiple administrative regions in Shenzhen and surrounding cities, serving a population of over 10 million.
